SEO plugins are great, but unless you’re willing to pay a monthly fee, some important features will be missing, features like site indexing.
Here’s a step-by-step list of what you must do to update your sites description with Google.
- on your site, update the site description using your SEO plugin and save changes
- empty any caches both on the host and in the cloud (CDN)
- manually submit changes and sitemap to google
Use Google Search Console > URL Inspection Tool > Request Indexing
NOTE
With Manual Submission: 1–7 days (if Google prioritizes your request).
Even if Google crawls your page quickly, it may not use your meta description if it deems on-page content more relevant to the search query.
